Partaking in the Global Learning Medallion Program has allowed me to expand my understanding of the world beyond Miami. Entering Florida International University as an immigrant and as a woman of color I was anxious to find my place. Through the activities I have taken part in,

through the Global Learning Program, I have been able to find my footing. 

 

Expanding your understanding of the world beyond your own scope allows you to connect with other individuals in ways I never could have imagined. Additionally, understanding how small or local events are impacting your community is crucial in producing change. Still, these issues expand to an international level. Observing the importance of global issues has been a life changing opportunity. 

 

I truly believe the Global Learning Medallion Program has allowed me to find passions within myself that I never knew existed. Since joining the program I have indulged in politics, international affairs, world wide news, advocacy, and social issues. Beyond Florida International University I intend on learning as much as I can outside of the classroom. Advocacy is now a huge part of my life and I plan on exploring it to the fullest.
